In advance of Sochi 2014, teachers and their classes are invited to two Google+ Connected Classrooms Hangouts on Air for Science and Engineering of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games, the new video series created by NBC Learn and the National Science Foundation exploring the science and engineering behind the amazing athletics at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. The Science of Skiing: Wednesday, January 29th, 1:00 PM – 1:30 PM EST

First up: Bioengineering Professor JORDAN GERTON of the University of Utah will explain the physical concepts that help Olympic skiers and figure skaters go for the gold.

The Science of Snow: Thursday, January 30th, 3:00 PM – 3:30 PM EST

For our second Hangout, we’ll be talking to Dr. SARAH KONRAD, a professor at the University of Wyoming — and a former Winter Olympian herself — about that white fluffy stuff that’ll be an essential part of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. Thursday, January 30, at3:00 PM Eastern Time.
